Aleksandar Vukic vs Mackenzie McDonald Head-to-Head, Preview, Stats & Pick:

Head To Head First Tour-Level Meeting.

First Tour-Level Meeting between Aleksandar Vukic (AUS) and Mackenzie McDonald (USA).
Their only previous meeting took place at the 2021 Helibronn CH in Germany on clay. McDonald retired in the Round of 32, with Vukic winning the match 6-3, 4-3.
Let’s take a closer look at their backgrounds:
Aleksandar Vukic is 28 years old and currently ranked World No. 70. He reached a career-high ranking of No. 48 in August 2023. In 2024, his record stands at 5-12, with a quarterfinal appearance in Marrakech being his best result so far. Vukic made his way into the Top 200 in March 2020, but his progress was disrupted by the suspension of the ATP Tour due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He broke into the Top 100 in May 2023 and reached his first ATP Tour final in Atlanta that same year. Vukic has also reached the quarterfinals in Adelaide-2, Sofia, and Marrakech, while making it to the Round of 16 at the ATP Masters 1000 Toronto, where he secured a notable victory over No. 15 Borna Coric. He has won Challenger titles in Bengaluru-2 and Busan, and was a finalist in Champaign in 2021 and 2022. Vukic was born in Sydney to parents who fled Montenegro during the breakup of Yugoslavia in the early 1990s.
On the other hand, Mackenzie McDonald is 29 years old and currently ranked World No. 76. His career-high ranking was No. 37, achieved in October 2023. McDonald faced a setback in his career when he underwent right hamstring surgery in 2019, causing him to drop out of the Top 250 in 2020. However, he made a strong comeback, breaking into the Top 50 in February 2022. McDonald’s most notable achievements include reaching his first ATP Tour final in Washington in 2021, where he defeated former champions Nick Kyrgios and Kei Nishikori. He claimed his first ATP Tour doubles title in 2022 partnering with Marcelo Melo in Tokyo. McDonald caused a huge upset in the 2023 Australian Open by defeating defending champion Rafael Nadal in the second round, which is considered the biggest win of his career. He reached the quarterfinals of the ATP Masters 1000 Toronto in the same year, defeating No. 7 Andrey Rublev along the way. McDonald has also made significant runs in Grand Slam tournaments, reaching the fourth round at Wimbledon in 2018 and the Australian Open in 2021, both as a low-ranked player. He won the NCAA singles and doubles titles for UCLA in 2016. McDonald returned to competition at the ATP Masters 1000 in Rome last week after his last appearance at the Australian Open in January. He is currently seeking his first victory since his win against Miomir Kecmanovic in the 2023 ATP Masters 1000 Paris first round.
