Andy Murray will make his return to the tour after two months out, taking part in the Geneva Open. In what is likely to be seen as a signal of intent to take part in the French Open, he will play on the Swiss clay the week before the second slam of the year is set to begin.
He will be hoping it is a pain-free return to the court, having not played since the Miami Open. He suffered an ankle injury in his three set loss to Tomas Machac there, somehow completing the match before discovering the severity.
While people have been expecting a Murray retirement for several years, playing such a tournament will have people thinking it is for real this time. He hopes to play the French Open and Wimbledon as well as the Paris Olympics, which also happens at Roland Garros in July.
Other names taking part in the Geneva Open include Casper Ruud, Tommy Paul, Taylor Fritz and Ben Shelton. At 5-8 on the year, Murray will be hoping for a kind draw to improve on that but also get up to speed on his fitness.
