Jannik Sinner vs Sebastian Korda Monte Carlo 2024 Preview and Prediction

tennis predictions

Jannik Sinner will look to continue his superb 2024 in Monte Carlo, hoping to improve on last year’s semi final. His second round clash with Sebastian Korda could be a tough one but the American has not quite pushed on the way many might have expected, given he is still lingering outside the Top 20. The head-to-head in this one is 1-1, with Korda winning the most recent one in Adelaide last year.

Korda won easily in round one, seeing off Alejandro Davidovich Fokina 6-1 6-2 in just over an hour. He may feel a little hard done by with recent draws at the Masters events with Sinner following Hubert Hurkacz and Daniil Medvedev as just his second match at the last three.

It would be a major surprise if Sinner is a dominant force on clay this year too, although the sharp rise in his level over the past year on hard court means it is still very much possible he could improve in the same way here. “It is not the surface where I feel that comfortable. I feel more comfortable on hard courts,” Sinner said. “It does not mean I am not a good player on clay.”

Even if there are some initial teething problems from Sinner, it does feel like he is playing at too high a level to suffer a defeat right now against anyone but the top tier of players. Korda has the game to make things hard for Sinner but over three sets, the increasingly mature Italian should be smart enough to figure things out.
