Last year’s losing finalist Elena Rybakina looks to move one step closer to bettering that on Monday with Madison Keys next up for the Kazakh. It will be the fourth meeting between the two with Rybakina hoping to tie the head to head up at 2-2, having won last time in Ostrava.

It is only Keys’ second tournament of the year, having returned from injury last time out at Indian Wells. She was rusty in a one-sided loss to Yulia Putintseva but has bounced back well here, with two straight sets wins on her way to the fourth round. The second of those came against Xinyu Wang, where she only dropped serve once on her way to a 6-4 7-6 win.

With three finals (two titles) already this year, Rybakina has been in good form. She hadn’t been seen for a month though, having withdrawn from Dubai due to injury. Her two wins so far this tournament haven’t been the most impressive but she will be happy to have got through two tight three setters. The second of those came against Taylor Townsend, whom she saw off 6-3 6-7 6-4 in the end.

Keys should still be fairly rusty after a good amount of time out, allowing Rybakina to come through this one. The fourth seed has been serving well and anything close to the 16 aces she hit last time out should see her come through in a more straightforward fashion than her last two matches.

Prediction – Elena Rybakina in straight sets
