Former Australian No. 1 Bernard Tomic was arrested on Wednesday evening in Miami following an alleged altercation with Miami Beach hotel staff and police.
The 22-year-old appeared to be a disturbance as he blasted loud music from his hotel room in W South Beach. Following several noise complaints, Tomic was arrested after allegedly being aggressive towards hotel security and was forced to leave his penthouse room.
Tomic was later detained and charged with resisting an officer without violence and trespassing.
The world No. 25’s arrest comes on the heels of his latest Tennis Australia controversy, where he was omitted from the Davis Cup squad against Kazakhstan. During his ongoing dispute with the governing body, they released a press memo that called the Hall of Fame championships the “Hall of Shame” for his decision to take part in the tournament.
Following his release, Tomic apologized for the disturbance and took responsibility for his actions.
“It was definitely my fault,” he told CBS4 News in Miami. “I was asleep on several occasions when they complained at first, but you know, it was just a noise complaint. “I’m just happy I got out and no one got hurt.”
