Agnieszka Radwanska vs Caroline Wozniacki Preview – WTA Finals Singapore 2014 RR

Caroline Wozniacki

Following their stunning victories on Tuesday afternoon in Singapore, Agnieszka Radwanska and Caroline Wozniacki will meet in the second match in the round robin to determine who will move onto the semi-final stage of the event. This marks the 11th time that the two competitors will cross paths on the WTA Tour, with Wozniacki leading the Head to Head series 6-4.

The first match of the second day of action featured a thrilling marathon match between Caroline Wozniacki and Maria Sharapova, who picked up from where they left off at the US Open just a couple of months earlier. The two produced some enthralling tennis during the encounter, yet it was ultimately Wozniacki who rallied back to defeat her durable opponent 7-6(4), 6-7(5), 6-2.

“I’m feeling a little tired! But it was a great match and great to make a winning start,” Wozniacki said. “It’s always tough to play your first match and get into rhythm on a new court. I’m just so happy to win and the crowd was unbelievable out there.”

The second contest of the day saw Polish No. 1 Agnieszka Radwanska oust reigning Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova in straight sets with relative ease. The sixth seed won 69% of her service points and converted 4 break point opportunities to close out the victory in 1 hour and 29 minutes.

“She’s a great champion and playing some amazing tennis, especially the last few months, so I’m really happy with that win,” Radwanska said. “There’s only eight of us here, so you have to go out and try your best, otherwise you’re not going to win. And I’m very happy with the way I played tonight.”

This is the 11th time that Radwanska and Wozniacki will meet on the professional circuit with the Dane leading the head-to-head series 6-4. After Aga had won three consecutive encounters between 2012-13, Wozniacki won their only meeting in 2014 – a quarter-final contest in Cincinnati. Considering the high standard of play that the two have maintained so far this week, this will likely be an enthralling encounter and an incredibly difficult match to predict.

Prediction: Caroline Wozniacki in Three Sets

  1. I’m going with Wozniacki on this one. I think whoever wins this will make the semi’s along with Kvitova.
