  Serbian star Ana Ivanovic and Sabine Lisicki will take part in one of the more exciting match-up in the opening round of the Bank of the West Classic. This is just the third time these two competitors will cross paths on the professional tour, with the series tied at 1-1. This is just the third time these two competitors will meet on the professional tour, and also the third time in as many months. Their most recent encounter at the Wimbledon Championships last month, which Lisicki won in straight sets to move onto the second week of the tournament. She lost their earlier meeting in Stuttgart in a match where she was clearly hindered with shoulder pain. While Lisicki is a force to be reckoned with on grass, Ivanovic should have the advantage in the pair’s first hard court meeting. In terms of consistency, the Serbian No. 2 has taken part in one of her best seasons as a professional and will look to excel at the season’s final Grand Slam event in a few weeks time.
