Italy’s Francesca Schiavone picked up one of the biggest upsets of the tournament so far when she defeated top ranked Canadian Eugenie Bouchard in straight sets to reach the second round. She would follow up with a tougher three set battle against Spainish youngster Muguruza, whom she defeated 3-6, 6-1, 7-6(5).

This marks the ninth time these two competitors will meet on the professional tour, with the head-to-head series tied at 4-4. The Polish star has won the their last four consecutive meetings in straight sets dating back to 2011. Radwanska will certainly be the favourite in tomorrow’s match-up and will likely extend her streak to five consecutive wins on Thursday afternoon.
