Here’s some bad news for all you fans of the former women’s World No. 1 out there, Serena Williams has sworn off dating for the next 10 years. In an unsurprisingly candid interview recently with Celebuzz, the tennis star reveals how a particularly difficult relationship experience has left her too tired and emotional to pursue any further dreams of romance:
“I’m a really emotional person, I give my all and everything. I do make mistakes – like every human does – but the last relationship just was too much of heartbreak for me. I just can’t go through that any more. It was hard.”
The experience was so upsetting, even to this seemingly invincible professional athlete, that it’s left the 27-time grand slam champion resigning herself to a relationship and dating-free decade – “I just have to remove myself from that atmosphere for about the next decade or so…. I just can’t get involved. ”
Williams is no stranger to consistent success on court, her strength, power and confident playing style on court have made her a leading player in the women’s tennis scene. But it seems that even this world-class tennis pro, like many other women out there, hasn’t been able to find an equally fulfilling romantic life prompting her to declare that “I have given up on dating….It just hasn’t worked out well for me.” A sentiment that plenty of individuals who don’t share her professional success can relate to.
But it’s not all doom and gloom for Williams this year, despite her personal life being less than fulfilling Williams has plenty to do this summer that will keep her occupied and put her back on the world’s stage. She is set to compete in the Olympic Games held here in Blighty, where she will no doubt add to her already impressive Olympic medal collection, as well as quite possibly claiming the world Number 1 spot for the 6th time. And there’ll probably be quite a few suitors lining up too to re-kindle her faith in love and romance!
