In a match between two wild card holders, the Argentine Juan Monaco came out as a winner as he defeated Kevin Anderson of South Africa 7-6 (4) 7-5 and booked his place in the U.S. Men’s Clay Court Championship semifinal.
This is the third semifinal for Monaco this year and he will face the American qualifier Michael Russell next.
Russell beat his fellow countryman Ryan Harrison 6-1 5-7 6-3 and will play his first career ATP semifinal match on Saturday.
