Kaia Kanepi of Estonia advanced to the second round at the Kremlin Cup in Moscow as she defeated Italy’s Sara Errani 6-0, 7-5. In other matches, Nadia Petrova of Russia beat fellow Evgeniya Rodina 6-4, 7-6 (3) and Bojana Jovanovski of Serbia eliminated Alona Bondarenko of Ukraine 6-3, 6-0. Seventh seed Italian Roberta Vinci went out after she lost to Vera Dushevina of Russia 7-6 (4), 6-4. No.1 seed in Moscow is Vera Zvonareva of Russia and Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland is second seed. Marion Bartoli, the Japan Open winner from last week is no.3.
