For the second time in two tournaments, Milos Raonic and Juan Martin Del Potro will face off at the deep end of a tournament. Del Potro won their semi final at Indian Wells fairly easily, not facing a single break point against the big-serving Canadian. After Marin Cilic lost in the fourth round, Del Potro will also be eyeing the No.3 ranking that would come with winning the title. It would be a career high for the Argentinian.

After a struggle against Robin Haase, things have been fairly routine for Del Potro in the previous two rounds. He was dominant in a 6-2 6-2 victory over Kei Nishikori before beating Filip Krajinovic 6-4 6-2 with the aid of 7 aces in a strong serving performance. His winning streak now stands at 14, closing in on Roger Federer’s streak that began the Swiss’ season.
“He’s showing good signs for his body, his game and he’s improving every day, I also think he has a big potential to reach the final here, so it’s going to be a difficult challenge to me.” Del Potro said of his opponent. Raonic is getting matches under his belt now and continues to improve, most recently beating Jeremy Chardy without facing a single break point. He also served 12 aces in the 6-3 6-4 win over the Frenchman, who had defeated Grigor Dimitrov in the previous round.
Prediction – Juan Martin Del Potro in three sets
