Petra Kvitova

Czech Republic’s Petra Kvitova and Germany’s Angelique Kerber will lead their respective Fed Cup teams in the final next week, according to the ITF team nominations announced earlier this week.

Currently sitting at world No. 10 in the rankings, Kerber will lead captain Barbara Rittner’s side into their first Fed Cup Final since 1992 at Prague’s O2 Arena, with No. 17 Andrea Petkovic, No. 27 Sabine Lisicki and No. 74 Julia Goerges completing the strong line-up for the championship tie.

Apart from reigning Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova, the Czech team will feature No. 16 Lucie Safarova, rising star Karolina Pliskova and doubles specialist Lucie Hradecka for their four-person team.

The world No. 4 will have her opportunity to help lead the Czech team to their third team title in four years. She has won three of the four singles rubbers she has contested in Fed Cup Finals to help Petr Pala’s team to the 2011 and 2012 titles. While they were unsuccessful last season, Kvitova could once again prove to be the deciding factor this time around.
