The Opening Matches for the Top 10 Seeds at the US Open 2014

The US Open 2014 main draws for the men and women’s single fields were released on Thursday afternoon and depict an array of impressive first-round matches that are certain to entertain those watching.

On the men’s side, Roger Federer begins his campaign against Australian veteran Marinko Matosevic, while Tomas Berdych opens his campaign with an encounter with resilient former world No. 1 Lleyton Hewitt. British No. 1 Andy Murray takes on Robin Haase, while French No. 1 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga meets Argentina’s Juan Monaco in his New York opener.

The ladies’ draw also features a variety of impressive match-ups, including a meeting battle between the old guard and the new in American tennis – Serena Williams vs Taylor Townsend – as well as a meeting between Russians Maria Sharapova and Maria Kirilenko and Ana Ivanovic vs. Alison Riske.
