World No. 2 Rafael Nadal may have had his picture taken celebrating his time off in Ibiza with friends, but he appears to be back in training this week, as he took to Facebook to update his fans about his preparation.

Nadal posted a picture on his official Facebook page, where he could be seen serving on hard courts in his home town. Underneath the picture was the caption, “Back to training with great enthusiasm!”

Rafa won a historic ninth French Open title, which puts him alongside Pete Sampras at No. 2 in the Grand Slam title-leaders list with 14 titles. The French Open champion failed to translate his clay court momentum on grass, as he would lose his opening match at the Gerry Weber Open against Dustin Brown. He would then go on to drop the opening set in all of his Wimbledon matches, including his fourth round loss to Nick Kyrgios.

The coming North American hard court swing is an important portion of the season for Nadal, as he is defending points at the Rogers Cup, the Cincinnati Masters, as well as the US Open. Since Djokovic usurped the No. 1 ranking from him at Wimbledon, Nadal will need his finest form to remain competitive with the Serbian star.

The world No. 2 return to action at the Roger’s Cup, which takes place between August 4-10 in Toronto, Canada.
