Sloane Stephens

Denmark’s Caroline Wozniacki and American youngster Sloane Stephens will meet for a fifth time on the WTA tour when they meet on Wednesday in the second round in Eastbourne. Wozniacki is undefeated against the American, as she holds a 4-0 record in the head-to-head series. Check out the Stephens vs Wozniacki H2H.

World No. 16 Caroline Wozniacki snapped a two-match losing streak on Monday afternoon when she rallied from 5-3 down in the first set and 2-0 down in the second set to get a 7-5, 6-4 win against the formidable Aussie Sam Stosur. She will look to pick up consecutive victories for the first time since the Monterrey Open.

World No. 18 Sloane Stephens had a more comfortable time on court, as she defeated France’s Caroline Garcia 6-2, 6-4 to reach the second round in Eastbourne. The contest lasted a total of one hour and 14 minutes and featured a strong showing from the American, who hit 70% of his first service points, as well as 5 aces.

Wozniacki has won all four of their previous encounters on the professional tour, including dominant 6-1, 6-0 win at the Sony Open earlier in the year. While she is not playing her best tennis so far this year and is being faced with apparent personal turbulence, Stephens has never managed a set against the Dane and it is unlikely she will achieve that tomorrow afternoon with her own standard of play as of late. While that may be the case, Stephens has also generally lifted her game around this time of year, and on this surface, so it will be interesting to see if she can take a set off her this time around.

Prediction: Caroline Wozniacki in Three Sets
