Sara Errani is through to the third round in Charleston following a quick performance in her match on Wednesday. Her next opponent is China’s Shuai Peng, who holds a winning record against the Italian. The head-to-head series stands a 3-2 for Peng, who has won their last three consecutive meetings. Check out the Errani vs Peng H2H matches.

Italian No. 1 Sara Errani breezed into the second round after her opponent, Kiki Bertens, was forced to retire in the second set with a lower back injury. Errani led 6-3 in the opening set, which lasted a total of 37 minutes. She will be looking to take advantage of her short match tomorrow afternoon against an opponent whom she has not beaten since 2010.

World No. 47 Shuai Peng reached the third round following a three set victory over American youngster Madison Keys. While the Chinese No. 2 led the match 6-1 heading into the second set, Keys stepped up her game to snatch a tiebreaker and force a deciding set. The match remained competitive throughout the 12 games in the set, with Peng eventually overcoming the American 7-4 in the deciding tiebreak. This marks her best performance since the Pattaya City Open in February, where she reached the quarter-finals before losing to Andrea Hlavackova.

This marks the sixth time these two competitors will meet on the professional tour, with Peng leading the world No. 11 3-2. Their last meeting took place in 2011 at Cincinnati Open. All of Peng’s victories were on hard court, while Errani leads the series 1-0 on clay – which could be the deciding factor in their match-up tomorrow morning.

Prediction: Sara Errani in Three Sets
