World No. 7 Juan Martin del Potro has been sidelined from the ATP World Tour after undergoing surgery on his left wrist to correct ligament issues. While the initial post-surgery recovery time was believed to last the remainder of the season, del Potro has revealed that his doctor has been “happy” with his progress and has already shortened the cast on his hand.
Del Potro took to Facebook to detail his latest experience:
“Hello everybody! Here is a picture of my first visit after my operation at the Mayo clinic. Doctor Berger is happy with the progress I made, thus he decided to cut the cast shorter. Thanks to everybody for the kind messages”.
The 2009 US Open champion went 7-3 in 2014, winning a title in Sydney, as well as reaching the quarter-finals in Rotterdam. He has been sidelined since retiring in the first round of the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships.
