British No. 1 Andy Murray and other notable players will be taking part in a fundraiser in support of former top ranked Brit Elena Baltacha on June 15.
The thirty-year-old Baltacha was recently diagnosed with liver cancer, which sparked concern amongst the British tennis community, including the current British No. 1 Andy Murray, which is why the fundraiser is taking place.
One of the participant in the event is 18-time Grand Slam singles champion Martina Navratilova, who overcame breast cancer in 2010.
“Cancer is an opponent we must fight against,” Navratilova said. “My thoughts are with Elena and what she must be going through at this time. It is great the tennis world is coming together to support her, and to rally against cancer.”
The “Rally for Bally” will also feature Anne Keothavong, Tim Henman, Jamie Murray and Greg Rusedski in mixed doubles matches at Queen’s Club, Birmingham and Eastbourne.
