Following a magnificent string of wins that saw her defeat former world No. 1 Victoria Azarenka in the second round, Lauren Davis has been forced to withdraw from the BNP Paribas Open due to illness. Casey Dellacqua will now meet Simona Halep in the quarter-finals in Indian Wells.

The news was officially announced by tournament officials on the BNP Paribas Open twitter account.

The World No. 66 had defeated the third seeded Azarenka 6-0, 7-6 (2) in the second round of the BNP Paribas Open on Friday afternoon, and while Azarenka was clearly injured during the contest, it was the biggest win of the American’s young career. She followed up with another straight sets win over Lepchenko, which had set up her fourth round match-up against Casey Dellacqua.
