A second round contest takes place tomorrow afternoon at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships between world N0. 3 Agnieszka Radwanska and Italy’s Flavia Pennetta. This marks the fifth time the two competitors will cross paths on the professional tour, with Radwanska leading the head-to-head series 3-1.

Radwanksa is coming off a strong week in Doha, where she reached the semi-final stage of the tournament before losing to eventual champion Simona Halep in straight sets. Prior to that, the Polish No. 1 reached the semi-finals in Mebourne, losing to Dominika Cibulkova, and the Fed Cup tie against Sweden, where she won both her matches in straight sets. The second seed in Dubai, Radwanska will be looking for another strong week and will need to perform her best to match a draw that contains seven of the Top 10 competitors on the WTA tour.

Flavia Pennetta began her season in sensational fashion, reaching the quarter-finals in Melbourne, where she lost to Li Na in straight sets. She was unable to carry forth the momentum, as she would lose in the opening round in Doha to qualifier Su-Wei Hsieh, who was ranked 99th in the world rankings. The Italian No. 3 will be looking to return to her winning ways, starting with an upset victory over Radwanska.

This marks the fifth time these two competitors will meet on the professional tour, with Radwanska leading the series 3-1. Pennetta won their first ever encounter on the professional tour back in 2008, but has since been unable to manage a single set against the Pole. Radwanksa won their following three encounters, as well as a Hopman Cup meeting earlier this year and will likely add another win to her resume tomorrow morning in Dubai.

Prediction: Agnieszka Radwanska in Straight Sets
