 Caroline Wozniacki

Caroline Wozniacki (Player Bio) is into her second final of the season and will be looking to end her season on a high note when she meets Germany’s Annika Beck (Player Bio) for the first time in the Luxembourg Open finals tomorrow afternoon. It will be the Dane’s final opportunity to capture a WTA Tour title before concluding the season. Check out the Wozniacki vs Beck Head to Head.

World No. 9 Caroline Wozniacki breezed past third-seeded Sabine Lisicki 6-4, 6-4 earlier today to advance to the final in Luxembourg. She has dropped only one set all week in her quest for her first title of the season. The Dane’s best performance of the year came ate Indian Wells, where she defeated Petrova, Kerber and Victora Azarenka prior to losing to Maria Sharapova in the final. She is coming off a quarterfinal loss to Azarenka in Cincinnati and a semifinal loss Simona Halep in New Haven. She is yet to win her first title of the year and did not reach the quarterfinals of a Grand Slam tournament for the first time since 2008.

Beck also cruised into her first WTA final after Stefanie Voegele was forced to retire with an injury at 7-5, 1-0 in their encounter earlier today. The 19-year-old has played an impressive tournament as she defeated Pironkova, Safarova and Piter before toppling the Swiss in the semi-final. She will be facing her toughest opponent to date in World No. 9 Wozniacki.

This is the first time these two competitors meet on the professional tour. Although Wozniacki has not had a great season and has been particularly woeful in Grand Slam performances this year, she is certainly the more experienced player, which will likely lead her to her first title of the season.
