World No. 4 Agnieszka Radwanska (Player Profile) continues her bid to capture a second title in China as she blasted past Polona Hercog to reach the fourth round where she will meet Angelique Kerber (Player Profile) for the eighth time on the WTA tour. The Polish star will be looking to avenge her quarter-final loss to the German last week in Tokyo. Radwanska leads the Head to Head against Kerber with 4-3.

The third seed needed only an hour and 15 minutes to dispatch of Madison Keys in the third round and followed it up with a convincing 6-0, 6-2 win over Polona Hercog. While she did not hit any aces, she dropped only two games, scored 63% of her first serves and converted 75% of her break point opportunities to secure a comfortable win and bring her record to 55-15 this season. The 2011 Beijing champion is looking for her fourth title of the season after an outstanding performance in Seoul two weeks back. She crashed out of the Tokyo tournament with a quick straight sets loss to Kerber in the quarterfinal and will be determined to overcome the German this time around.

Ninth ranked Kerber had an impressive run last week in Tokyo, where she defeated Ivanovic, Radwanska and Wozniacki to reach the final before eventually succumbing to Petra Kvitova. With a 40-20 record this season, the German star is hunting for her first WTA title of the season. Kerber began her week in Beijing with a 68 minute win over British No. 1 Laura Robson and followed it up with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Italian No. 2 Roberta Vinci. She is yet to drop a set heading into the quarterfinal.

Their last encounter in Tokyo was far from a competitive contest as Kerber dominated the affair and took an easy 6-4, 6-4 win to reach the semi-final. It was surprising considering Radwanska’s performance in the tournament and the fact that she had beat Kerber in their previous three matches. Radwanska holds an overall lead in the series at 4-3 yet Kerber is 3-2 in hard court matches against her. Considering their respective performances over the past few weeks, this is likely to be an entertaining affair between two of the top stars on the tour.
