5 time Gerry Weber Open champion Roger Federer beat Tommy Haas after coming back from a set down to eventually prevail 3-6 6-3 6-4.

The German, who beat Federer in last year’s final, started the encounter with a lot of confidence, taking Roger’s serve in the sixth game and paving his way for a one set advantage.

However, after Haas dropped his first service game in set two, he never managed to recover, with Federer dictating the outcome of the last two sets.

This win means that the Swiss improved the head to head against Haas to 11-3 and interestingly enough, 4 of Federer’s Wimbledon’s wins came after taking the title here in Halle.

In the other semi-final match, Russia’s Mikhail Youzhny outplayed Frenchman Richard Gasquet, winning 6-3 6-2.

Should Youzhny prevail in Sunday’s final, he would become the first Russian player to win this tournament after Yevgeny Kafelnikov managed to do so back in 2002.
