Nadia Petrova retired due to injury, other seeded players moved into 2012 Korea Open quarterfinal without losing a set.
Defending champion Martinez Sanchez, currently 93rd on WTA rankings, was given a walkover in the second round of Korea Open as fourth-seeded Petrova pull out of the tournament with a low back injury.
Top seed Wozniacki, who is yet to win a WTA title in 2012, remained untroubled in the second round – she beat Garcia with 6-2, 6-3.
Eighth seed Makarova, who eliminated Bastad champion Hercog in the opening round, ousted 22-year-old American Hampton to book her quarterfinal ticket: 6-3, 7-5.
Another US player sixth-seeded Lepchenko was more successful as she defeated Medina Garrigues of Spain without dropping a service game: 6-4, 6-1. Her next opponent Austrian Paszek, 2012 Eastbourne winner, took out 468th-ranked domestic player Lee in fifty-one minutes: 6-2, 6-0.
Third seed Kanepi and seventh-seeded Zakopalova also made their way into Korea Open QFs. World No. 16 Estonian dealt with Kazakh Voskoboeva with 6-2, 6-2, while Czech Zakopalova defeated Slovak Rybakova: 6-1, 7-6 (6).
