Murray’s Mongrels get the Medals!

Just hours after claiming his long sought victory over Roger Federer and his brave battle against the number 1 Belarusian doubles pair of Victoria Azarenka and Max Mirnyi, Andy Murray has been the victim of some Olympic medal snatching by two furry culprits who are very close to home.

Maggie May and Rusty are the canine masterminds behind the medal snatching, and they even had the audacity to post pictures of themselves online smugly wearing the Gold and Silver Olympic medals that their master worked so hard to win!

OK, so the two pets did have a human helping hand in snatching the medals from the new Olympic Men’s Singles Tennis Champion. Murray’s long-time girlfriend Kim Sears, who is reported to be the ghost-writer behind Maggie May’s Twitter account, shared the photograph online yesterday with the caption “Here we go folks…just checking to make sure Rustly definitely has the silver, obviously.” Maggie May, whose furry paws no doubt cause problems typing, regularly tweets via Sears and is quite the superstar when it comes to famous sporting pets having nearly 10,000 followers.

Although Murray’s devoted canine fans weren’t able to watch the on court action unfold yesterday, Sears didn’t miss a minute of the most anticipated tennis event of the season. After making defeating a world number 1 and record-breaking tennis champion look easy with his straight sets win over Roger Federer, Murray accompanied by doubles partner Laura Robson attempted to do the same in the Mixed Doubles final. Sadly his success couldn’t be repeated, but it was well deserved silver that was granted to Murray and Robson on their home courts at Wimbledon. And even though Murray was disappointed to not achieve a double gold, Rusty doesn’t seem to have any complaints about the gleaming hardware!
