Richard Lewis becomes new Wimbledon Chief Executive

Richard Lewis, who has been the chairman of the Rugby Football League up until now, has been appointed CEO at Wimbledon.

He will replace Ian Ritchie, who left his CEO post at Wimbledon this february to become chief executive of the Rugby Football Union.

Lewis is a former tennis pro, reached a career high world ranking of 68 and later went on to become the Director Of Tennis at the Lawn Tennis Association (1998-2000).

‘We had a very strong field of candidates and in Richard Lewis we have the person with the right blend of sporting background and management skill and experience to ensure that the All England Club and The Championships continue to go from strength to strength.’ said Philip Brook, chairman of the All England Club.
