Malisse beats Mayer in Bucharest, Bachinger upsets Troicki

Belgian Xavier Malisse upset the German second seed and defending champion Florian Mayer at the Nastase Tiriac Tennis Trophy in Bucharest as he ousted him 7-5  4-6  6-4.

With this win, the Belgian got into his first quarterfinals of the season and he will next play Hungarian qualifier Atilla Balazs. The Hungarian booked his place in the last 8 with a 6-3  6-4 win over Italy’s Potito Starace.

Another upset of the day was Matthias Bachinger’s victory over the Serbian 4th seed Viktor Troicki. The German prevailed in three sets 6-3  4-6  7-6 (2) and will face fellow countryman Daniel Brands next, who defeated Jurgen Zopp of Estonia 7-6 (3)  6-3.
