Tomas Berdych moved into the last 8 of the 2012 Australian Open as he beat the Spaniard Nicolas Almagro 4-6 7-6(5) 7-6(3) 7-6(2).

Berdych was booed by the crowd at the end for refusing to shake Almagro’s hand.

It all happened in the fourth set, when Berdych came up to the net and after his volley landed just short of the service line, Almagro struck it right at his body. Berdych believed that he did it deliberately and was seemingly not happy with it.

Therefore, when winning the fourth set tiebreak and sealing the match, he walked straight to the umpire and didn’t shake Almagro’s hand. This gesture didn’t win too many new fans for Berdych, that’s for sure.

The Czech will now play Rafa Nadal for a place in the semifinal.
