  Marcos Baghdatis of Cyprus got through to the Malaysian Open semifinals by defeating the Austrian Jurgen Melzer 6-3, 7-6 (3). In the other quarterfinal match, Viktor Toicki of Serbia dismissed Dmitry Tursunov of Russia 6-4, 6-4.
