In case your confused by the positioning in the draw of Jim Courier, 
let me try to clear it up.  Marcelo Rios, the second seed, withdrew.  
They gave his spot at the bottom of the draw to Jim Courier (why I'm 
not sure).  Taking Courier's #5 spot was Byron Black.  And taking 
Byron Black's spot was Lucky Loser Emilio Avarez.
