Third seed Agnieszka Radwanska will be the first Polish woman to contest a grand slam final in 73 years on Saturday, and she will face four times Wimbledon champion Serena Williams.

The 30 year old American can match her sister Venus’s haul of five Wimbledon victories if she wins, and with the power she has displayed throughout this championship illustrated by her 85 aces so far, it is difficult to envisage an outcome other than a Serena victory and 14th grand slam title.

As if the task of facing such an accomplished campaigner as Williams was not enough, Radwanska is battling a respiratory illness ahead of the final. But she does have the added motivation that a win would not only give her her maiden Wimbledon title, but would also propel her to the world number one ranking.

Prediction: Williams in straight sets.
