Just look at the entry rankings for 6/27 (same as 6/20): the next names on the ALT list are the ones who come after Hernych in the rankings (& a few players with injury protected rankings).

Time for Younes El Aynaoui to show some results now....he has three more tournaments to go for on his protected ranking of 27, looks like it´s gonna be Montreal, Cincinatti and the US Open! He has still not won a match on the ATP tour this season (only three wins in challengers) and his ranking is down at 400! Maybe he is gonna retire after the US Open...?

He'll probably play challengers to try to get his ranking up. Too bad he couldn't win some matches with the wild cards & protected ranking entries. He's such a nice guy that some tournament directors might have been willing to give him wild cards to ATP events (a la James Blake), but with such a poor record this year, I doubt anyone would risk it. Maybe he'll get some wild cards into ATP qualifying tournaments.

I hope he doesn't retire. I know he's over 30, but remember that he was a late bloomer & didn't play all of those years of juniors that most players do, so hasn't been playing as long as others his age.

I don't think he will retire. I met him in Braunschweig at the challenger and he was really working hard. I know that practice and match are two different pair of shoes, but additional to that, there was an article in a Moroccan paper, that wrote him off, and he answered on that with an: "Don't bury me alive!" So I think, he will at least try to get his ranking up again.

Patrik77, I have to correct you, sorry. Younes' ranking is UP to 400! At the beginning of the Braunschweig challenger (20th June) his ranking was on #523 So he improved his ranking in 4 weeks for 123 ranks.

Dear fans

Regrettably, I have to inform you that I will not participate in the Rogers Cup, the ATP Masters Series in Montreal. As you know I have been suffering from pain in my feet for the past six months. An MRI was performed after Wimbledon and the doctors advised me to rest for 4 full weeks. As this period collides with the preparation for Montreal and the tournament itself, I had to take this decision in order to ensure full recovery.

Not being able to compete and trying to defend my title from Toronto does hurt. After all, it is my birthday the first day of the tournament and I also like the province of Quebec a lot. But I am certainly looking forward to playing in Toronto next year.

PS: Cincinnati is still on the plan and I’ll most certainly keep you updated as soon as there are news.

Even though the main draw it self is normally not made this early, the list for the main draw is finalized (by at least 6 pm) at all the places before the qualifying draw is made at 9 pm. That means, any tournament can make the main draw before the qualifying draw. Just that they usually only do it sometime during the weekend. For some reason, Monrteal decided to do it early.

The qualifying draw must have been just been made at Montreal, as usual right past 9 pm Friday. It will be out soon.
