I know why: $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ (or €€€€€€€€€€€€€€)
Players are certainly bought to go there...

Montauban: only 1 single French player in this weak acceptance list !!!

Yes, they wait for 6 days of the grand slams, for the first three rounds to get done. I am not sure how many of them will make the final-16 at Wimbledon...

(D) men's doubles
(X) mixed doubles

Mertinak should be withdrawn from Forest Hills. He is through to the 3rd round in men's doubles and his match won't be played until Monday.
Anyone of those marked with $ who wins tommorrow or his match is not finished by the time of the draw (might be the case of Muller and Tipsarevic who play the 3rd matches in schedule) will be scratched from next week's challengers.

I am also a bit surprised be the withdrawals from Forest Hills, but I am not surprised to see Jan-Mike pull out. What I know of his leg injuries, this will probably happen a lot for the rest of the summer, it will all just depend on how he feels from week to week (personally, I think he should just stop playing for however many weeks it takes, even if that means the rest of this year).

Gimel will be next. He said during his studio interview on ESPN that he needed to take a week off and ice all the broken parts of his body.

Did Justin G say anything about his mixed dbl match??

From what I've seen on TV, he had a few hard falls in his match today... I won't be surprised if he got something broken...

Forest Hills CH: (No SE spots) - Update:
OUT: Baker, Bogomolov, R.Delgado, Delic, Gambill, Norman, Salzenstein, Suzuki, Vahaly (and Mankad, Motomura, Scherrer, Vlaski, Rettenmaier from ALT)
IN: Vemic, Boeker, Marray, Vico, Kimmich, Healey, Mergea, Baccanello, Iwabuchi
NEXT: Miranda, R.Ram, Amritraj, Smeets, Fruttero, Taino, Bloomfield, Melo, Tecau, Marx

Oh boy .. Is there a healthy young American anywhere who wants to go play on the hallowed grass courts of Forest Hills? ... This is sad, guys! .. I was really hoping to hear of a good grasscourt challenger out there in NY. It was a perfect week for it too, just ahead of Newport ATP on grass... What can I say .. Well I am happy that Prakash Amritraj may make it in, in the end..

Players like Marray and Hilton, if they were to lose there doubles today and set off for Forrest Hills being above the cut, do they have to sign-in in person or can they phone/fax ahead to let organisers know that they're on their way?

Players in the main draw are presumed ready to play until they announce their withdrawal... the main draw start on Tuesday (and some 1st rnd matches could be played Wednesday) so there's plenty of time for players being ousted from Wimby on Saturday to get to their next tournaments...
but organizers must know before the qualifying draw who is in the main draw, so those who are yet to be ousted by that time are presumed to be still playing next week...

So far, Waske and Moodie won their matches and so should be scratched from FH and Cordoba respectively. Hilton and Marray lost and are free to play at FH if they wish.

Latest update from Wimby:

Forest Hills:
$Gimelstob, Justin USA 101 (X)
#Mertinak, Michal SVK 140 (D)
#Waske, Alexander GER 147 (D)
#Tursunov, Dmitry RUS 155 (S)

Cordoba:
$Muller, Gilles LUX 69 (S)
#Moodie, Wesley RSA 128 (D)

#through to 4th(S), 3rd(D),2nd(X) round
$play on Saturday

(S) men's singles
(D) men's doubles
(X) mixed doubles

Muller's match has just started, and if it takes 5 sets, it might not be over at the time of quallie draw at Cordoba.
Gimelstob's match has not started yet, but unless it's postponed or suspended overnight it would be done well before the QD at Forrest-Hills because of the time difference...

All of these Challengers have Tuesday starts, so qualie sign-ins are Saturday evening and qualies start on Sunday. The draws will be available later on today.

And Justin needs to make a phone call. He is definitely not playing Forest Hills, and is only 50-50 for Newport right now.

Justin G can't withdraw from next week's tournament while he is still playing this week. He has a mixed doubles match scheduled later today, and until he is out he can't announce his withdrawal from FH.
The match is scheduled next on court 7, but because Els Callens has finished a long ladies doubles a short time ago it would be delayed to allow her appropriate rest, and might not be finished today. In that case, Justin is automatically scratched from FH.

Since my latest update, Muller has lost his match and is cleared to play at Cordoba.
Waske (in contrast to previous message) is playing at this moment. If he wins, he would be out of FH.

Yes, he is. As he is playing in Italy this week, he may have a higher prefrence for Biella. That is probably why he is not scratched from there (ie, if he makes Biella now. he will be scratched from Montauban). But it doesn't look like he will make Biella; so he should be going to Montauban.

I think there wil be some more changes in the lists .. All those SE spots needs to clear - surprised they haven't yet .. Also Wimbledon names like Gimelstob.

Not sure if I will get any more updates though.

I will post the ATP draw links by the time the qualies draws are about to come out - which is at about 2 hours from now..

3 Mixed Doubles - 1st Rnd.
Todd Perry (AUS)/Els Callens (BEL) def Justin Gimelstob (USA)/Tina Krizan (SLO) 4-0 Ret.

Is anyone surprised???

Now Justin is cleared to play FH... or announce his withdrawl...

Waske's match is still in progress... they were playing the 4th set the last time I checked...

The SE issue is wierd... only finalists at Reggio Emilia are eligible for them, so there were maximum 4 candidates this morning...
