Haha that´s a good one, he´s probably the worst player in the top 100 on every surface except clay (together with Montanes on 104 right now). I think even Christo van Rensburg still easily would beat Hernandez on grass....

In 93 before the French Courier was asked who he´ll think will win the French: He answered "Christo van Rensburg", such good irony that too, he even couldn´t stop to laugh himself...(van Rensburg NEVER won a match on clay in his 15 year career) the same as if Federer would answer who he think will win Wimbledon with "Hernandez" :HeadBang: Good irony Nuke!

INFO: Christo van Rensburg was active in the 80´s until 94 and did good results on grass but almost never played on clay, the few times he did he lost pretty big most of the time, went from the hard courts straight to grass and didn´t even bother playing on the clay, he had a pretty different carrer compared to players nowadays who play everywhere everyweek...

I'm sure there will be a qualie list, 21 days before the event starts (surely somewhere in the back of your mind you knew this? You've been around a while haven't you?).

On http://www.wimbledon.org/en_GB/pdf/MS_LS_Entries.pdf you can find the men and women's entry list and the withdrawals! Massa already pulled out, which saw Phau make the main draw.

Jay

Which ranking will determine the doubles seeds?

In other slams the draw is held on Tuesday (day 2 of the tournament) so the latest ranking if of that week. Is that the same at Wimby or (since they don't have sign in on-site) they make the draw before the new ranking is out?

I believe they use the previous week's ranks for seeding in singles and doubles. As far as I know that procedure has not changed at any pro event. It comes from the days when they used to mail or fax the rank sheets to the events after the ranks are made sometime on monday. Now the ranks are out by sunday night, but the procedcure of using the previous weeks' ranks has not changed yet.

How did we get an advance doubles list? Isn't that unusual for Slams?

Only wimbledon has an advance doubles entry list, because they conduct doubles qualifying in the previous week ..

Yes, players can use their singles ranking to enter the doubles draw. The ATP allows this to encourage top ranked singles players to play doubles, which is supposed to bring more exposure to doubles matches.

This is the procedure in grand slams tournaments only.
In ATP events there are seperate quotas for entries with doubles ranking and singles ranking (or the best of those).
In 16-draw tournaments the division is: 8 doubles, 6 singles and 2 wild cards.

From this we can surmise that Ulihrach is in & Calleri (from ALT) is out:

Spadea & Agassi are also questionable so there may be more lucky loser spots.
http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/...sfla-sports-col
Vince Spadea hasn't even been able to go on court to begin practicing since his stomach muscle injury at the French. He definitely won't play any warm-ups to Wimbledon and is probably less than 50-50 to be ready for the All England Club. ...
Still no word on whether Andre Agassi will play Wimbledon. My best guess is that he's having a difficult time deciding whether to take another cortisone shot for his back, which allows him to play relatively pain free for about two to three months. Prediction: He doesn't play Wimbledon, takes a shot prior to the U.S. hardcourt season, then plays one or two pre-U.S. Open tournaments, makes the Open his final event and retires.

i agree with u fiona on gaston gutlessadio(sorry i meant gaudio) being a loser..greg rusedski absolutely loathes clay yet year after year tries his hardest to master the surface.i love the way clay courters(not all at least massa and zabaleta have real injuries) suddenly develop mystery injuries.i hope we dont enter a phase like in the 80's where most clay courters mysterioulsy booked themselves a 2 week holiday!.at least theres plenty of clayers in the qualies.carlos moya isnt entering mainly coz hes having a crap year and sinking like a stone.if moya suddenly feels better at least he can enter the spanish national championships  which take place during wimbledon.....mmmmm

according to Dutch television, Wessels will play Wimbledon after all. He asked a second opinion and he's been given the green light to play.

Withdrawals from Wimbledon

Tuesday, 14 June, 2005

Andre Agassi regrets will have to withdraw from the Gentlemen's Singles due to injury. Mr Agassi says in a fax that it is a regrettable decision and he will miss playing in the most prestigious tournament in the world.
Agassi will be replaced by a lucky loser.

things can change fast ;) good for Wessels ...

but Schalken might withdrawal , he played & won a match today at Rosmalen but didn't feel well. if it stays like that he'll pull out of Wimbledon, he wants to be 100% for that tournie

from NOS TT :

Code: Select all
Anders dan de uitslag doet vermoeden,
had Schalken nog erg veel last van zijn
blessure."Als het zo blijft,ga ik niet
naar Wimbledon",zo stelde hij."Voor dat
toernooi moet ik 100 procent zijn."
