Don't know why you think I'm going to Aptos, your assumption is incorrect. Not sure who you are accusing of gossip, this is a tennis messageboard and I am free to comment about a tennis player who has shown an inexplicable pattern lately (one that you comment on frequently, are you the only one allowed to?). Didn't realize he had slipped that far down in the rankings, but I don't always look past 150 when I am on the ATP site.

Oh, and I did say if...that went both ways. BTW, I don't talk about anything but my own frustration at seeing Alex enter Quallies where he would be a high seed otherwise. No, it was a simple statement that he seems to be missing deadlines lately. There was ABSOLUTELY no speculation about why that is happening or what is going on in his career. You chose to make something else out of it. I had no idea he had dropped 17 places this week, out of the top 150, didn't even occur to me that could happen to him. Whatever, hope he has better results in the next few weeks.

Ryderstedt is the only Swede that "for sure" will get a WC to Båstad, he´s the only Swede ranked inside the top 200 that is outside the Båstad cutoff (Björkman will probably get in). After his success from last year and a Challenger win this year he´s worth the WC more than any other swedish player

Thanks. ATP in Sweden for sure is something different than challengers in Mexico, WC's aren't given to anyone who pays. But maybe they'll be given to the youngsters like Eleskovic or what his name is. I hope all who come there will have fun and I'll be in France around the date.
BTW I was checking Jarkko Nieminen's results in Sweden and noticed his favourite music band is Metallica... WOW

Last year Eleskovic got WC from both Båstad and Stockholm, hopefully he doesn´t get any this year, he hasn´t played well at all and I don´t think he deserves it. I would like the organizers to give WC to the Swedish players that have made good results and been fighting in futures/challengers, for example F.Prpic, Sarstrand, Hartman, Rehnquist, Adaktusson etc. Last year they gave Juan Monaco a WC because they thought the Swedes were in need of match practice in the qualifying....maybe they give a WC to Del Potro this year...

Of the Polish players Chadaj and Fyrstenberg were in Båstad last year, hopefully there will be some Polish guys this year as well, I´ll be there for sure!!

Monaco got a WC in Bastad? Hahaha I didn't remember that! He's one of my favourites, too and I have nothing against you cheering for him this year. A WC for Del Potro isn't a stupid idea, but from what I know Juan Martin is going to play junior Roland Garros now and then try to qualify to challengers (hopefully in Europe however I suppose he'd easily win the one in Cuenca). And as about Hartman... he's not so young man and still without exeprience. He mostly play in futures, he doesn't perform well in challengers not talking even of ATP! And he doesn't have luck to the umpires at all - that's what I've heard and noticed myself. His greatest traits are service and forehand. Sometimes he goes to net. But truly saying he made some improvement ... damn, in fact you don't have so many players to give WC's to. Ryderstedt, Hartman, Del Potro yup that's it. Plus a special ticket for me if it's not too much.

Well, they can always give a WC to one of the Swedish juniors from the junior team (Eleskovic, Göransson, Kumlin or Sauer) but I think it´s a waste to give a WC to someone of those, to early for them to play on ATP level. Eleskovic took one game against Carlsen in Stockholm in October of last year and on future level he doesn´t win matches either! Hartman at least has a future title this year!

Less of a surprise is Roger Federer's decision not to play in Gstaad. In a release Federer's management noted:

"After an intense beginning of the season Roger Federer wanted to take his time until after the tournament in Hamburg before making a decision. On Monday, May 23 2005, Roger Federer let Tournament Director Kobi Hermenjat know that he will definitely not take part in the Allianz Suisse Open Gstaad from July 2 – 10, 2005. It was a difficult decision for Roger Federer as he would have been the defending Champion in Gstaad. In the end the planning of the season with its focus on remaining the world's number one in tennis and thus concentrating on the French Open and Wimbledon in the 2nd quarter of 2005 was the determining factor."

By the way, Ryderstedt is in the semifinal in Ljubljana. He's doing quite well on clay. With good draw he may show some good results in home country. I wish he didn't finish his clay season after Bastad and try to qualify to uhmm "some" other seaside claycourt ATP tourneys.

WC for Vinciguerra in Båstad if he´ll be able to play. That will be his first tournament since a challenger in February of 2004, last time he played an ATP event was in Stockholm 2003. He´s practicing right now after a knee surgery and rehab. He´ll play smaller tournaments to see where he is at the moment...(before Båstad he´s gonna play some matches on the swedish summertour).

The SE won´t be used, none of the Wimbledon players that are left are ranked below the Båstad cut. (Tursunov will be SE in Newport if he reaches the Wimbledon semi)
