Lleyton Hewitt broke some ribs in Australia, he probably won't play at RG.

Funny thing that Scud was offered WC instead of Luczak. Luczak actually can play pretty well on clay and can win some matches. As for Scud, think that his latest results speaks for themselves. If he can't even win on Hard Court it is pointless to grant him a WC on clay. Surely he has had capacity to play well on clay but always been 10 times better on HC.

Granting Scud a WC is certainly not based on anything else than really old merits. Good thing he denied it.

Don't you think that beneteau, monfils and Clement will give bask their WC as they will certainely make the draw after the few next withdrawls that may come in the next few days ?

i've just been informed that vliegen is currently 4 out of main draw, so that probably means 2 more players have withdraw after the latest update from Jay ; hopefully we'll have a confirmation from him soonish

i also hope a few more players will withdraw before the quallie draw comes out ;)

take it easy

Well, this is what I have ..

Update:

Roland Garros Main Draw
OUT: Massa, Verkerk, Zabaleta
IN: Draper, Enqvist, Benneteau
NEXT: D.Sanchez, Monfils, Clement, Ulihrach, Vliegen, Minar, Saretta, Simon, Wawrinka

As Monfils and Clement have wildcards, that effectively makes Vliegen 4th out. On the other hand, if there are withdrawals, then those WCs may go to another French player, which means Vliegen still needs 4 withdrawals to make it in.

But really, why can't some of these players who we know would eventually withdraw, just get off their behinds and call ATP with their withdrawals, so that the waiting list players can proceed with their plans?

Is there any deadline for WC's?
If Clement and Monfils get in the MD after late withdrawals few days before RG, can they change the WC's at the last minute??

WC may be altered until the MD is made, but players who played in qualifying can't recieve WC

RG main draw list

No sign of any further withdrawals from the above list. Still only Massa, Verkerk, Zabaleta OUT from it.

The qualifying entry list will be made by 6 pm today (like in 2 hours). So, I am not sure if anybody in the qualifying main list and waiting list would get lucky with any of the main draw guys withdrawing.

Come on guys. If any of you are planning on withdrawing, go ahead and withdraw! :) ...

The 2 last WCs go to:

- Jo-Wilfried Tsonga
- Olivier Patience

I don't know who else can diserve a WC in case of new retirement...
Devilder ? Gicquel ? Mutis ?

Maybe better let a LL get into the MD...

Very good question...
But as MD and QD have different entry list, withdrawal could be substituted by Clement or Monfils because they didn't play the qualies. I hope it will be the case to see how the case is solved.

In case Monfils enters the draw, I don't know who will be nominated substitute WC because the French Federation let all players play the qualies incliding some who did not really deserve it like Renavand, Sidorenko or Lugassy.

Maybe Correja, Varlet, Coutelot or Rosset but I think they are all injured...

There's no addition to the MD entry list after the qualifying have started. Any vacancy that occur after 9AM Tuesday will be filled by LL.

If one of the 32 seeded players withdraws after the main draw has been hold ,, this seeded spot would be filled by a lucky loser or the highest ranked player who couldn't be seeded player would fill this place in the draw as a seeded player ??

When the draw has been made, but play on the main draw hasn't started yet (so, before Monday 11 am CET) the place will be filled with the highest unseeded player (which will be Ferrero!). If a seeded player withdraws later, then the slot will be filled by a LL.

Wouldn't the highest unseeded player be Chela? Ferrero is currently 34th and would get a seed only if two players above him pulled out.

Any official news on Hewitt's participation yet?

All the articles I read seem to indicate he still is hoping to play, but none of them say that he is travelling yet. Can anyone imagine he will play when he's still injured, arriving rather late and having had no matches or even practice on clay? I sincerely hope he pulls out before the MD is made on Friday, or it could make things rather unbalanced (Safin and Nadal could both be in one half of the draw, probably Federer's).

From news in Australia, Hewitt is still a possibility to play at RG. He only cracked a couple of ribs, not broken. I would expect he would concentrate on the grass season - even without the rib problem he probably wouldn't make it past the last 16 on clay.

Cracked ribs even if they're not fully broken still can take weeks and months to heal completely. They're just simply AWFUL injuries.

Highest seeded players in the qualifying round that can become LL are:

1.Wawrinka
2.Behrend
3.Nieminen
4.Dupuis
5.Djokovic
6.Bracciali
...

If two LL are sure now then Wawrinka and Behrend are already in, they can go out and lose their qualifying round....but then they miss out on a couple of ranking points as well...

Why Federer is gonna face a QF ( Sela ) and not a LL ?? and i also would like to ask if this fact is only an ITF rule or a ATP too ?

Thank you .

as far as I know, qualifiers and lucky losers are basically the same in terms of where they go in the draw. Anywhere a qualifier can go, a lucky loser can also go. So that's why Fed got a qualifier and not a lucky loser, he just as easily could've gotten a lucky loser.
