Here it's the new in spanish confirms Nadal won't play at IW:

http://www.marca.es/edicion/noticia/0,2 ... 00,00.html

He says :" I need to rest, and i'm gonna take some days of rest before preparing Miami "

My altavista translation of the Spanish article says that he is skipping Indian Wells due to "muscular annoyances" :) ..

You do need to give a medical reason to withdraw. "I am tired" is not considered a medical reason... Anyway, he has officially withdrawn from IW, as I confirmed above.

Tursunov and Arazi need to make the phone call and get the heck off that list so JanMike can get in. Get on it, men!

I don't know the official reason Nadal is gonna give to ATP to justify his withdrawal, but i've listened to him today on a radio, and in no case he has talked about an injury , he only wants to rest after a very tough month in south america, and he wants to rest now, and not in the next weeks, because he wants to be at the 100% when it arrives european claycourt season, where he wants to gain a lot of points. I think Nadal's withdrawal has been and strategic decision at his schedule of tournaments.

By the way, at what local time IW men singles maindraw will be hold ?

Peter Wessels retired from his Davis Cup match on Sunday, so hope that he is healthy enough to play IW.

The main draw will be done at 1 pm Pacific Time on Tuesday. The qualie draw will be done after 9 pm on Tuesday and the qualie matches will begin at 10 am on Wednesday.

Wessels is ready to play, he only retired because he was tired after 2 long DC-matches on Fri & Sat.

It's great to see Alex K getting these big time WCs - he deserves it. OK - I like Donald Young, but don't see how he is gonna win a match at a Masters Series, but I hope he does. All these guys need is one big win to break through. Nadal did it, Gasquet did it, Monfils did it - all in TMS events. Hopefully Alex is next.

Hi

Jarkko Nieminen is now marked green in IW Alternates list.
Jarkko has told anyway that he will next play in Sunrise challenger.

So if Jarkko Nieminen now doesn't play in IW will he get zero points for this tournament (as one of his 18 best)? or not because he was not in the original IW main draw entry list.

Only original entry list and if he looses in 1st (or maybe 2nd) round in IW he can still make it to Sunrise and that's allowed

Thank you Erikslomp for your info.

There is a brand new info on the Jarkko Nieminen's website that he will paticipate in Indian Wells. So wait and see what happens.

Only need 2 or 3 more people to pull out of Quallies to give Alex a seed. Anything to plant a bit of confidence 8-[

I would've liked to see Brendan get a Main Draw WC but Quallies is still good. As long as he is nowhere near Alex...I hope he can get through.

I believe that is the last update, as they should be making the qualifying draw in about 2-3 hours (Morrison is the last entry in the main draw that came out this afternoon). There could possibly a couple more last minute withdrawals that the on-site ATP supervisor may hear about, as usual ..

Does anyone know why a qualifying wildcard has been given to Pedro Rico of Spain. He is ranked 1473rd and has only played two futures in the last 3.5 years!

Pepperdine junior Pedro Rico captured the National Collegiate Tennis Classic on Sunday Jan 16 with a three-set victory over fellow Spaniard Roger Matalonga of Arizona at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden in Indian Wells, California.

Rico, ranked No. 13 nationally in the most recent ITA rankings, defeated Matalonga by scores of 6-4, 5-7, 6-2.

The victory gave Rico a wild card entry into the prestigious Pacific Life Open scheduled for March 9-10 at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden. The tournament will feature many of the world's best tennis players.

There you go! ;)

I thought that I saw Ivo's name in the main draw :S

As for Davis Cup, he & Nikki Pilic (the captain) are apparently not getting along so he didn't get picked for the team.

Hi, yes you are correct he is in the main draw, stupid me  , must of just missed his name. Oh yeh, i heard something like that, which Croatia where playing thier last Davis Cup match. He is not a bad player, but without his serve, he is kinda average. Saying that, i hope he does well in this tournament.

There were 2 withdrawals in the qualifying draw! Those 2 players were replaced by Alternates.

Bogomolov Jr - replaced by Zimonjic
Roitman - replaced by Knowle

Both Knowle and Zimonjic lost in the first round though.
