TennisAustralia says,

French prodigy Gael Monfils will shortly get his first taste of a Grand Slam maindraw with the announcement today that Monfils and Stephanie Cohen-Aloro are the French Tennis Federation’s nominated recipients of the French Wildcards for the Australian Open (17-30 January 2005).

The 18-year-old Frenchman shot to international awareness in 2004 when he won the Wimbledon, French Open and Australian Open junior titles to finish the year as the world’s No.1 junior. En route to his Australian Open success he didn’t drop a set. In Qatar this week, he showed he was ready to make the step up with a first round win over French Open champion Gaston Gaudio in straight sets before losing to countryman Fabrice Santoro in three sets in the next round.

Stephanie Cohen-Aloro (21) made her Australian Open debut in 2004 where she lost in a tight three sets to Amy Frazier in the first round and in 2004 reached three doubles semi-finals on the women’s Tour with various partners including the Canberra Women’s Classic with countrywoman Emilie Loit where injury forced their withdrawal. She reached a career high ranking of 61 in October 2003, the same year she made her debut in the French Fed Cup team which won the title for only the second time in the nation’s history.

Jay,
On the woman side, The french Federation has announced that, as Cohen Aloro gets in the main draw due to several withdrawals, Capucine Rousseau gets the wild card for the Aus Open instead of her.
Bon Tennis !

the qualie draw is out (check AO website), it looks like Saretta & van Scheppingen made it in to main draw , so we probably have 2 more withdrawals before the Qdraw was made

Thanks Jay.... only 1 extra withdrawal for main draw ... i expect a few LL to get in though

so, Van Scheppingen didn't make main draw after all, and he's not in the qualifying draw because he didn't sign up for it :D

and did he withdrawn before the qualies started? if so, a LL will get his spot... otherwise it's Van Scheppingen taking his place

The main draw is out:
http://www.australianopen.com/en_AU/scores/draws/ms/index.html

17 spots for qualifiers, so Flip must have withdrawn after qualifying started.

Does anyone know if Joachim Johansson is still playing at the AO? He retired in Sydney this week and i believe he had an injury?

Seems Thomas Zib (Number 1 seed in qualies) is in whether he wins or loses his final qual match. Should make it easier for his opponent id say ;)

Yes, J.Johansson is playing the AO, reason he retired in Sydney was not to make the injury worse. He has been at a doctors in Melbourne and got positive results from the X-ray and today told that he will play AO after a bit of resting and half-time practicing :D

If he was in the draw and then withdrew, he gets a 0.

I have a rule question:

Will Björn Phau (as lucky loser) get 13 points for round 1 or will he get 20?
