Aus Open entry deadline is 6 weeks before, so the lists should be out this week. Qualie lists should be out 4 weeks before.

BD or Jay, can you tell me where or if JMG is on the Auckland/Sydney alternate lists? Thanks.

JMG is 19th in the Auckland ALT list. Did not enter Sydney,w here he would have been a couple of spots lower.

It's nice to already have the entrylists of the tournaments next year. At least something to speculate when there's no real action. Thanks! :) Do you know if Jérôme Haehnel has entered either Sydney or Auckland? I noticed that he was on the Adelaide list on week 1. It would be nice to see him do full tour in Australia now that his ranking allows it. :D

You're welcome 8-[ . Thanks for the info Jay :D .

Elina, does this mean Jerome isn't afraid to fly anymore, he's being drugged for the flights, or was that a different player?

Jérôme was playing in Mauritius last week, so I guess he was testing if he could fly. While in Mauritius he said in an interview that he would play in Australia, so I guess he's not too afraid of flying. He told that the flight to Mauritius had been "painful" but he had stayed alive. ;)

The AO Qualies will be played in this week, week 2!

Thanks to the ATP ranking system basically punishing Alex for trying to qualify for a Masters Series over defending points...he's basically right where he started 2004. Only a little lower :( . He started this year at 121 and ended at 125. He was at 100 before The Championship points from Tiburon came off and the QFs from Waco.

Looks like he's going to be one of the lower seeds in AO quallies and, on top of that, it doesn't look like he will be playing before Melbourne in order to warm-up. Haven't heard back from my usual source about it. Don't expect to either.

Any updates yet Jay?

I also have a question about the Aus Open Qualies. You wrote that Minar made it in as first alternate, but he was already on the original list I received. I guess ATP forgot a player in the list and corrected that later, sending Minar to the first alternate-spot. I'd like to know who the forgotten player was. Any idea?

Yes, scud is now in the main draw directly. Reid is 14th in the waiting list right now for main draw.

Carlsen does appear on the original alternate lists of these 2 tournaments,
No. 21 in Auckland and No. 26 in Sydney. So he won't make it in by direct acceptance. But since he is in for the Aus Open en doesn't have to play qualies for AO, my guess is he'll play qualies in Sydney (or Auckland)

Alan Mackin is in the Auckland qualifying draw, does this mean he can't now play in the Aus Open qualies?

If Mackin does not qualify at Auckland, he is allowed to play qualies for AO, but then he will not be allowed to play anywhere in the first week of AO main draw - the usual "one tournament per week" rule applies.

Isn't that the same for all players in AO qualies?? They can't play elsewhere on week 3, do they?

Guillermo Garcia-Lopez is a SE for Auckland, whilst Tomas Zib is a SE for Sydney. Santoro withdrew from Auckland.

David Sanchez and Potito Starace enter Auckland,
Albert Costa enters Sydney.

nitsansh: If they did not play qualies or main draw for one of the week-2 events, they can play week 3 even if they have played the AO qualies on week 2. So, most of those who are in qualies at AO this coming week would probably be playing in week 3 somewhere.

Also, yes, this applies to doubles also. If you are in the doubles draw for Auckland or Sydney or any event in this week and lose early enough, you are allowed to play the AO qualies if you can get there on time (they may even schedule you for the second day of first round Q if needed), but you cannot play in week 3.

Only two events can be played in the 2 week period. Basically you can count AO qualies as an event for week 3 if you played qualies or main draw of a week 2 event, OR you can count the AO qualies as a week-2 event and play another event in week-3 if you had no other event in week-2.

I see... you can chose to count AO qualies for week 2 or week 3, but not both...

Does this rule apply to any tournament other than GS qualies??

BTW... when is the withdrawal deadline for AO qualies?

Teach us another one Jay...

Flip has withdrawn from Sydney after the draw was made. He had been given a wildcard. Can someone else get that wildcard, or does that spot have to go to a lucky loser from the qualies?

Thanks!

I can answer that only because I have downloaded the updated draw. Jarkko Nieminen got the LL spot. and Luke Bourgeois as a Qualifier took the spot that was Flip's. I've personally never seen a WC given to another after the draw has been made. If the draw is made then only LL can fill those spots, right?

I've finalised the qualifyinglist. The final cut is 434 !!
There were only 9 WC's, I thought 10. So I must had somebody missing on the original list. But it's not that important since he withdrew anyway.
Greetings

Sorry to disappear for 4 days - was traveling and did not have a decent internet connection ..

BD has the qualifying list all correct. The official final cut was actually #422, but as expected Zimonjic (at Sydney doubles) and Sugiyama (at India F1) could not make it. They were technically eligible to play if they had lost early this week so their name stayed till the draw time. So the final actual cut is 434...

Adrian Garcia is playing AO Qualies but he´s not in your list BD for Ao Qualies?! :S

How come he´s playing and is not seeded of a ranking on 127? He was not entered in the AO Qualifying, is entered for next weeks challenger in La Serena! :S
