Third wildcard probaly to Peter Wessels or Dennis van Scheppingen. But Richard Kraijeck as tournament director keeps looking for world top player.

Also Schalken is 6th on the alternates list. If he enters directly his wildcard comes free?? If this happens, would be nice for Wessels.

I believe Somdev Dev Varman (IND) earned a wildcard to the Memphis qualies, winning the wildcard tournament last week.. Somdev is a top new player in the US college circuit, playing for U.of Virginia.

Karan Rastogi (IND) got the qualifying wildcard to Rotterdam, from winning the wildcard tournament held in India by Krajicek and ABN Amro.

Pretty odd coincidence that two Indian youngsters picked up qualifying wildcards for the same week. Both these qualies are tough ones with 16-player fields and a cut around #250..

A qualifying WC for Rotterdam goes to Jesse Huta Galung (NED) for winning a wild card play-off between 4 young dutch players.

It would be time that ATP restablishes the bonus system giving points related to the ranking of defeated opponent.

Otherwise they could multiplicate the awarded round points by a factor depending on the quality of the field.

Jesse Huta Galung had to pull out of the Rotterdam qualifying tournament because of a wrist injury. He will be replaced by Steven Korteling.
Huta Galung defeated Korteling in the final of the wildcard qualifying tournament held in Amsterdam in December 2004.

They are not all junior players. Korteling is from 16/1/84, Van der Meer from 18/1/85, Huta Galung from 6/10/85 and van der Duim from 16/9/87.

Van der Duim is still part of the Dutch Junior team, the others are part of a Dutch National team for players between 18 and 21.

Baghdatis, Marcos CYP now is 96 in the entry ranking.

Will he still be an alternate or does he have a chance to enter as qualy or main draw directly?

I do not understand wich entry ranking does each tournmant use. Should not be mandatory to use the most updated ranking?

Every tournement use the entry ranking of that week that is the last week to register (six weeks before for ATP-tournaments, three weeks for challengers and two weeks for futures and satellites) so in the case of Rotterdam it´s the entry ranking year end for 2004 that counts. In the Baghdatis case he will be the first to enter the Rotterdam qualifying if somebody from the qualies-list pulls out.

Schalken should be out of ALT list cos he got WC for main draw, and O Rochus should also be out from ALT list cos he is top seed in Q draw.

But the alt-list doesn't matter anymore, because, if i'm correct, if someone withdraws after the qualification draw is made, his place will be taken by a lucky loser, not by the #1 on the alternates list.

Jay,
can you explain how Richard Magney made it in in the memphis-qualiedraw?
There were already 3 other wildcards and his ranking didn't allow him in.
Thanks!
Greetings

I assume they could not get hold of Rajeev Ram in time to take him out of the list, after he made the list on the last day. If you notice the last update I had, Ram hadn't been placed in the list and only three names had gone IN for the 4 OUT spots. Rajeev must have been traveling to the Joplin challenger qualies (where he is playing).

Other players in the Memphis list right after Ram, who could have gone up to Memphis and made the draw on Friday (Pedroso, Healey, Amritraj etc) had all gone to Joplin qualies also. So they ended up with a spot and I assume Magney was the only one around! As he was not in the list, they could not have made the initial draw with his name on it - so he should technically be a signed-in player who would have to be listed as ALT on saturday morning, though - they must have forgotten to do so?
