challengers

Thanks for the list. I have Tobias Summerer and Gilles Simon in a contest for this coming year on another board and was looking for where they might be playing to start the year.

After years of just using the stevegtennissite/forum for information I finally join the chat...Have to start to thank Jay and BD for supporting us with great information and a good structure of it! Really makes my day so many times! :D

Jay: How come when you do the WD-updates you don´t write who withdraws from the challengers but just write how many withdraws there are? In ATP Tournies you say who withdraws! And by the way to you and BD: So good that you color withdraws in red, makes it so easy to see everything!

Now i just look forward to another great tennisyear and another great year on this: the best tennissite in the world, a shame that ATP/ITF don´t handle their sites better than they do!

Patrik: I do sometime withhold names of some top players withdrawing at some ATP events also, if they have not announced it at their site. Though we don't have to show such courtesy, I would like not run into unnecessary hassles with them - after all, tournaments may lose money if they release such info, and I don't want the ATP to come after the players who help me with inside info.

In general I think the challenger tournament directors are a bit more touchy about their entry lists and seem to not talk about withdrawals at all. Also, it is often some of the top players who withdraw from challengers (not wanting to bother playing them), unlike in the ATP events where players withdraw mostly due to injuries etc. So, I give names of only those who withdrew from the ALT, so that we can keep track of who is getting in etc. Anyway a lot of us here are a lot more interested in many of the players who are not big names anyway ..

Update:

Noumea (no SE spots)
OUT: One from main draw (and Kubot, Navarro-Pastor, Berrer from ALT)
IN: Serra
NEXT: Snobel, Prpic, DiPasquale, Prodon, Levy, Sarstrand, Motomura, van Gemerden

Sao-Paolo (no SE spots)
OUT: Five, all mainly below 200 (and Niemeyer, Reynolds, Greul, Eitzinger from ALT)
IN: Taino, Dabul, Costa, Hartfield, Soazres
NEXT: Marcaccio, Przysiezny, Mertl, Alves, M.Melo, F.Browne, Patriarca, Simoni

Richard Gasquet withdrew from Noumea due to Chicken Pox.
I hope he will be fine for the Aus Open... His coach (Deblicker) expects one week rest for recovery.
Bon Tennis !

Ah, ok. I was just about to ask...on the drawsheet the reason listed for withdrawl is "disease".
