Verkerk was ranked #892 on the entry deadline. The cut-off is currently #86. He will need a wild card or a qualifying wild card to play there.

Verkerk WC

Postby Jberendsen » Wed May 30, 2007 3:39 am

Verkerk Asked a Wild card to the organisation and probably he will get it!

nobody knows why because on his favourite surface he won no set and on grass he is hopeless he first need to train more and the organisation must give the Wild cards to young dutch talent like Robin Haase, Igor Sijsling, Jesse huta Galung and Thiemo De Bakker.

What about the third wild card to Rosmalen?I think it should be Thiemo De Bakker(75%) or Verkerk(25%).How strange that other best Dutch won't to play the qualification in Hertogenboesch-van Scheppingen plays Wimbledon Q(that's right,I agree with that),Sjisling plays Milano(I disagree, better I think try to enter the main draw Rosmalen from Q),Huta Galung,Middelkoop,Hemmes and other plays Alkmaar Futures. And who will take the wild card into Rosmalen Q?Verkerk,Wessels, who else?
Sorry for my english :)

The third wildcard for the ordina-open was the last years for the extern management that contracted the players, so the last years players like Gilles Muller, Robby Ginepri and Jiri Novak got a wildcard. Probably the last wildcard will go to a top-30 player who wants to play one more tournament after a quick lost in Queens/ Halle ( like Hewitt)

Mahut is still high in the Alt list for Wimbledon, pending about five withdrawals from the injured or grass-alergic, so he could still make MD without qualifying. He may have declined an SE to be on the safe side if he does have to qualify.
