Comer back of the year?????????

Must be something like 42 years old !

Why not ?

I just heard Guillermo Vilas will take a WC to Futures in Argentina. He wants to get back in the top 10 and do better as Nadal.

It's nice to be back too! :) I'm sorry that my abscence might have worried some, but I had some personal problems I had to deal with over the last couple of months. So I lost track of tennis (and this forum) a bit. But now I'm back, although I think I won't be able to post lists and do the 'colouring', but that's not really a problem I think because I'm very happy to see that others have taken over this job and that they are doing a great job!!!
I'll say it once again and I really mean this: It feels great to be back and see all the familiar names like Jay, PatatRiek, Fiona and many others!!

But now back on topic ;) How come the Wimbledon list isn't out yet?
Greetings

Agenor is now a US citizen, so he is playing for the USA and not Haiti.

I bet he wins a round or two! The guy still kicks ....

[quote="Nathaliia"]I thought come back of Charpentier was a deal...

He won two matches in the quallies at the French Open. Today Bogdanovic was leading 5-2 in the 3rd set and suddenly, so out of the blue, he managed to comeback and win 5 games in a row. :D

He plays with Dick Norman for a place in the main draw now :HeadBang:

Hi PatatRiek!

Dick Norman not only won the battle of the oldies but beated Massa too! He has been a nightmare for some Argentine players on the past days! ;) Congratulations for his victories.
I remember that Norman and another guy called Johan Van Herck came to Argentina to play a challenger tournament about 10 years ago if Im not wrong. It´s amazing that he still keeps playing in a such high level and keep hanged on the top 100 with 35 years old!

Tennis players from your country did it pretty well this week. Not only Norman but Christophe and Olivier Rochus achieved good victories. Vliegen (my fav between Belgium players) and Malisse lost in tight matches and did it well.
O.Rochus has good chances to do it pretty well this year. Maybe he can get closer to Dewulf´s performance when he reached the semifinals.

Eduardo Masso is a former Argentine player who kicked around the tour on the late 80ties and early 90ties and worked for the Belgian Federation for many years (I think he married a former Belgian tennis player. I´m not sure if she is Sabine Appelmans). Do you know if he still works there?
I don´t fancy that much with female pro tour but Justin Henin is my favourite player on that tour. I really enjoy to watch her matches.

I´d been in Gent last year and I really liked it! .

Feel free to contact me if you need information about Argentine tennis.

Hi Argentina!

Just for your information, Eduardo Massa used to work for the BElgian federation but now works for a private academy. I don't who he married, but it is for sure not Sabine Appelmans.
Congratulations to Assalo Varguello!!!

Carlos Rodriguez: ''Justine's going to get better''
By By Georges Homsi
Friday, June 2, 2006

Carlos Rodriguez has been coaching Justine Henin-Hardenne for 10 years now, and while he remains confident that she can retain her title, he knows that she is going to have to step up her game, particularly with Italy's Tathiana Garbin - the last person to beat her at Roland Garros - lying in wait for her in the third round.

How do you think Justine is playing at the moment?

She's alternating between some very good play and some passages where's she's not been so good, for example against Yakimova in the second round. The conditions were hardly ideal, however, and the main thing is that she showed some fighting spirit. She'll have a chance to show what she's made of later in the tournament.

Last year, she came to Roland Garros unbeaten on clay, whereas this year, she lost to Schnyder in Charleston, and at the final in Berlin to Petrova. Do you think that this might have an effect on her play here?

I don't think so. On the women's circuit at the moment, you can't expect to win every game. It makes for an interesting challenge for Justine. She's made it through to a quarterfinal and a final so far this year, so if she gets through to the last four here, then that will be quite an achievement, as it's by no means easy.

In the semifinal in Berlin, Justine played incredibly well to beat Amélie Mauresmo. Even though she lost the final, her performance in the semi must have been very encouraging for you.

I still think that she lacks a little consistency at the highest level. She has only played in 18 tournaments in the last two years, and has been off the circuit for long periods. Since 2003, the longest run she's ever been on is seven tournaments without getting injured. She needs to play as much as possible to build up her mental strength. She doesn't necessarily have to play outstanding tennis every time she goes out on court - that would be impossible. She needs to be able to play at a certain level day in, day out, and keep the bad days to a minimum.

A lot of people think that Justine is favorite to retain her title. What do you think?

It's difficult to pick out a favorite at the moment. There are five or six ladies who can make it to the quarter or the semis, and they're the ones who get to that stage at virtually every tournament. Any of those girls could win here - they've won Grand Slams before, and they'll surely win some more. Justine is part of that group, no better, no worse…

Translated by Andrew Lilley - Sports Transalations

By the way...is anybody 's seen a goblin yesterday in the Suzanne Lenglen ???

Hi Ben, Hi Lucas,

His name is Eduardo Massó (O). Not MassA. He used to play in the late 80ties and played quite well on doubles. Rodriguez and Massó were hired by the Belgian Tennis Federation in order to develop tennis on that country.
Some months later Rodriguez took full control of Henin who is still his coach.
Massó kept working for the Belgian Federation.

Hope that helps.

Interesting discussion, but this thread is technically for entry lists. If the discussion needs to be much longer, you might want to start a thread in the unmoderated section...

What is the source of this list?

There should be at least a couple of players entering with protected rankings.

I've read that this week's ranking is the one used by ATP/ITF for the entry in the US Open, and Marcos Daniel is the only Brazilian in, although Saretta probably will get in the main draw after just 3 withdraws (sic). I know it´s not definitive, some players will use their protected ranking, that´s why I posted here, and not in a new topic.

He will actally play three challengers and one ATP before US Open. Yesterday he lost in Istanbul to Wang 7-5 6-4. Hard windy conditions. He felt good and had his chances in the match. His shoulder felt alright but he had problems with the matchtempo. Now his gonna play Recanati and then Segovia before using his protected ranking in New Haven and US Open.
