Sao Jose Challenger Moves to Costao do Santinho: ATP (March 28, 2006) - The tournament will now be held at the resort at Costao do Santinho. Due to this change, the tournament will be held outdoors on the same surface (clay). The new venue was the site for a Davis Cup tie and previous Challenger events. The new site is located 20 minutes from the Florianopolis airport, which was also the closest airport to Sao Jose.

So, I have renamed the thread, as it is now called the Floranopolis challenger, not Sao Jose.

[quote="ToniX"]Floranopolis (moved from Sao Jose) It is Florianopolis :)

Actually not Tonix's mistake. Typo by me when I edited. Had it correctly in the thread title though -- Jay

Nice to see so many European tennis players at Florianópolis.I would like to go to this beautiful island in Southern Brazil to watch some matches (to support the Brazilians, obviously).
There are also a significant number of Americans in Valencia.
This way some tournments become really more international.

Yep, Valencia California, just north of Los Angeles. Home of Six Flags Magic Mountain amusement park. Wonder if any of the guys are going to risk a turn on some of the giant rollercoasters and such there. :S

Giovanni Lapentti suffered a luxation in his right shoulder in his DC-Match, so I think it's an illusion for him to play at Florianópolis.

Valencia, CA? :D
I should suspect so many American tennis players at Spain... :HeadBang:
And also a Challenger and an ATP in the same city in just two weeks.
There's a funny story about Polish tennis players who were going to Germany to play at a tournment... and they went to the wrong city. Same name, but a common name, and the river of the town should distinguish them. Do you know this story, Nathaliia?
By the way, Guga Kuerten is from Florianópolis, São José is a near city in the continent.

OMG No I haven't heard but knowing some Polish players it's very possible to be true! Could you give me names and when was it? :D

The city was Frankfurt I guess ;)

Jornalistas vão à cidade errada na Alemanha
Journalists go to wrong city in Germany

The staff of a French TV channel made a big mess this week. They went to Halle, in Germany, where they would like to watch Rafael Nadal, who won Rolland Garros just a week ago, in the local tournament. The mission, however, was screwed by a "detail": the journalist went to another city, of same name.

Ao invés de se dirigirem à Halle que abriga a competição da ATP, no oeste alemão, foram a outra Halle, muito maior, mais ao leste do país. A distância entre as duas localidades é de cerca de 350 quilômetros.

Instead going to Halle where the ATP would be placed, in Western Germany, they went to another Halle, much bigger, in Eastern Germany. The distance between the two cities is around 350km.

According to the tournament spokesman Frank Hofen, it's not the first time in the tornament history this mess happens. In the 13 years of the tournament history, even tennis players made the same mistake. "Once some Polish went to Halle of the East and they were looking for the courts. Of course they didn't find them", he said.

Yep, that are two different cities :) Halle, where the tournament is, is officially called Halle/Westfalen, and the other Halle, where this tv-staff and the players went, is Halle/Saale.
