He's on the list for Mexico City and Aquascalientes, so it looks like he's playing in South America afterwards - wouldn't be too surprising if he made the trip to Miami from Asia since he's probably staying in this hemisphere afterward.

Technically, because the qualie draw is being done on Sunday, they can't use the rankings for Monday the 20th for it even if they update the rankings in the ATP computer before the draw is done today, correct? {what a convuleted question that was...)

Not sure if I understand what you're asking but it would for sure seem odd for the qualie draw to use the 3/13 rankings but the main draw to use the 3/20 rankings...

I think that is what is going to happen because the qualie draw is being made on Sunday and the main draw will be made on Monday. Since the atp week begins on Monday, they will use two different rankings. I can't see how you can publish a draw dated 3/19 that uses rankings dated 3/20.

interesting. it seems very odd to me to have two draws for the same tournament using two sets of rankings. but i guess if it's within the rules...

Happened at Wiimbledon last year for sure. Qualie draw was made Sunday, main draw was made Wednesday (I think), so there were two different sets of rankings. Guess we'll know soon enough, the qualie draw should be up any minute now. :)

Fiona, You are asking about the ranks used for seedings, right? -- That is always based on the previous week's ranks. I don't think it changes even if it is made on monday. They will use the Mar 13 rankings for both qualies and main draw at Miami.

[I think ATP has set it up that way because it gives them a chance to delay the rankings by a day or two if absolutely necessary, like rained out finals, errors in the inputs to the computer etc, before the ranks are used for anything official; actually the only thing they use the latest rankings immediately is for the entry list decided on Tuesday - but that is always 3 or 6 weeks ahead of the event and so they have time to correct things if needed]

As for the grand slams, the qualies and the main draw are technically events in two successive weeks, and so they always use different rankings for seedings, that's all (regardless of the day of start of the event).

The rulebook says 'the most recent ATP entry ranking list.' And I see the ATP website now has the 3/20 rankings posted.

Wasn't this the problem at IW? They used the Feb 27th rankings for the first draw, realized their mistake and then used the Mar 6th rankings for the corrected draw (which moved Blake up the seedings). argh, get the qualie draw posted already so I can stop thinking about this!!! :D

20/3 ranks used for Q draw so 20/3 ranks should be used for MD too

I think ATP should have used the Feb 27th ranking for the IW seedings as well .. That was really an exception from their procedure to use the monday rankings. IW can be considered a special case though, as the only ATP event with a Friday start - which is late enough in the week for the monday ranking itself to be used (though I believe they made the main draw by Tuesday afternoon there!)

I guess they are changing the procedure now, if they are using the Mar 20 ranks for both Q and MD at Miami. Not a bad change though.
D.Young aka as Mr. Wildcard receives another one . :roll:

Let’s make a count:

* WC’s at ATP tournaments : 12 ( 3 of them at qualifying draw )
* WC’s at Challengers : 4 ( 1 of them at qualifying draw )
* WC’s at Futures : 4

18 WC’s before the 17 years old :o and counting . Best result : Semifinals at a future . :o Not even a match won in challengers . Another clear prove that the level of juniors circuit last year was just ridiculous
:D :D
Hey, he totally demonstrated he deserved it :). He almost won a game lol. I think it's ridiculous, it only puts pressure on him...

I agree.

He is too young! Today was crushed 6-0 6-0 against Berlocq (clay court specialist).

Agassi has withdrawn from Miami and is replaced by Lucky Loser Bjorn Phau from Germany. Source is the schedule of play on the Tournament Website and there is also a thread on MTF. No reasons have been given for this late withdrawal as yet.
