He has a protected ranking of 21 that he´s gonna use later in the season (for the grass-season and the hard court tournaments in USA).

Puerta was in the Indian Wells list also when ATP released the initial list itself, but he was shown as crossed out and the entry cut was shown to have moved down by a spot. We simply did not mention the name in the Indian Wells thread as he was already cut out. For some reason, ATP has not cut out Puerta yet from the initial list for Miami. I suppose they may do that later.

We will see what happens and when he will be taken out from Miami. I am also assuming that this may have something to do with his appeal or something.

D.Young aka as Mr. Wildcard receives another one . :roll:

Let’s make a count:

* WC’s at ATP tournaments : 12 ( 3 of them at qualifying draw )
* WC’s at Challengers : 4 ( 1 of them at qualifying draw )
* WC’s at Futures : 4

18 WC’s before the 17 years old :o and counting . Best result : Semifinals at a future . :o Not even a match won in challengers . Another clear prove that the level of juniors circuit last year was just ridiculous
:D :D

Guga's wild card goes to Sam Querrey (not Robin Soderling)

http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/tennis/sfl-bmw16mar16,0,7649399.story?coll=sfla-sports-tennis
Nasdaq wild card

Sam Querrey, the 18-year-old American prospect from Thousand Oaks, Calif., is expected to get the Nasdaq-100 main draw wild card turned in by injured Gustavo Kuerten. Querrey is 1-3 this year after defeating Bobby Reynolds of Marietta, Ga., in the first round at Indian Wells before losing in split sets to James Blake in the second round.

Which rankings will be used for the draw? It's made Monday afternoon so is it safe to assume that next week's rankings will be the ones used?

44 (WC) Roshardt, Robin SUI
45 (WC) Fugate, Marcus USA
46 (WC) Bester, Philip CAN

I am aware that Bester is a junior, but ti'm curious about the other two. How did they get into Miami? Was there a qualifying tourney or did they get exemption for winning or doing well at a junior tournament?

Roshardt won the Orange Bowl in December 2005. Fugate won the 2005 Luxilon Cup. (Bester was the runner-up). The male winners of both of those tournaments (both are held on the same site as Miami) usually receive qualifying wild cards into Miami.
