Postby omar25 » Fri Dec 16, 2005 5:30 pm

probably a wildcard to Hicham Arazi, he's back !! and maybe one for Younès El Aynaoui who will get one for sure in the Doha Atp Event.

stefan koubek is out of doha as he mentioned in his online diary bc he has been ill the last week and will continue to prepare for australia instead of playing the doha challenger and the atp tournament. he will start either sydney qualies or australian open qualies.

Hopefully Van Lottum gets in as well. A briliant player who had a lot of injury problems last year. This year is comeback time...

Does anybody know how serious Arazi is with his comeback? And why did he stop playing? Injury or just lack of motivation? I´m surprised of his result in the Doha Challenger, not that he lost but how he lost, to big scoreline for loosing against a player mostly being on the futurelevel! I hope he´s serious with his comeback because he´s a classy player to watch!!

Also very strange that El Aynaoui didn´t get a WC to the main draw! Maybe he decided late to come and all the WC´s were already given away..

Monfils playing Doubles at Doha challenger

Postby pggtips2 » Wed Dec 28, 2005 5:59 am

Monfils is playing doubles at the Doha Challenger with Hicham Arazi and have won their first match.
I have to say this guy has really impressed me with how much he has learned since making the transition from juniors to the main tour. This is just another example, he wouldn't have been as motivated if he'd played both singles and doubles, or even singles on its own, this is an excellent strategy in order to get himself in good shape both for Doha ATP and the Aussie Open.

Hi Pat,

Arazi has a wrist injury, he even withdrew from doubles. I don't know if he can be back on high level, perhaps not... Maybe he wants to have a goodbye tour, like Younes. When I talked to Younes in Aachen he said he really believed he could be back to top 20. The challenger in Dnepropetrovsk showed like kind of a step was made, but now this hopeless failure to Kloer... embarassing... I know Kloer is already in the quaterfinal, but I don't see any fun in travelling and losing to different Kloers around the globe.

By the way I wonder if a wrist injury can be spreaded like a virus. I have a bad long-term wrist injury, and so do / did my fave players: Nalbandian, Canas (right handed), Rios, Arazi and even the guy from my siggy (lefties).
so sick of love songs.
