I was just getting ready to ask when the 2006 entries would start being released :)

Jay, is "you know who" on any of those Alt. lists. He's in the 220s so I didn't expect you to list that far. Thanks for any help.

No, Bogie is not in any of the lists.

For reference, and for Fiona, Zack Fleishman, who is in the 250's, is 74 OUT of Adelaide, 63 OUT of Chennai and 76 OUT of Doha. Also, for Dererfan, Andrew Derer is not in any of the lists either.

Diddy,
I am impressed that you remember my fondness for Zack, but my main concerns for that week are Justin and Jan-Mike. Looks like Justin will get into Chennai, but I think he'll pass on it and try his luck with Adelaide, where he will play JMG in qualies, with my luck. :D

Thanks for the info, Jay and Diddy. Hope I will be able to log in again when I get home.

I think it's weird, but then again, he has already comitted to some tournaments in February (South-American clay season), so perhaps he's simply not willing to play any tournaments before the AO.

Not sure about Safin. Massu was injured early in 2005 (I believe it was an ankle injury), that pretty much kept him out til the middle of the year. During his lay-off, he split with his coach and remained without a coach until September, so I believe these were all reasons why he had such a bad year. Hopefully 2006 will be a better year for him - he starts in Auckland on 9th January

Henceforth, only ITF events (grand slams & Olympics) will have entry lists for doubles. Entry for ATP doubles will be done on-site by sign-in.

http://www.atptennis.com/en/players/rulebook_changes_jan.pdf
The entry/withdrawal deadline for doubles is 6:00 PM Saturday local time prior to the first day of the tournament unless otherwise authorized by the ATP.

Jay,
The Nadal news is being reported on his website messageboard. I think it is coming from a recent interview he did that his team is taking a conservative approach to his foot injury. I don't think he has officially pulled out of Chennai yet, but he probably will.

I had seen that interview, when he withdrew from the Girona event. He said if his foot allows him, he will play at Chennai. The above item is then outdated. I don't like people making such definitive statment, unless they have seen it definitively.

I too don't put much chance for him to play Chennai, but this forum is taken seriously by people, and so such definitive statements should not be made without a source.

Here is the latest on Nadal, from El Mundo Deportivo (Dec 24th) -
http://www.elmundodeportivo.es/20051224 ... 76848.html
(translated by Alta Vista)

"Rafa Nadal Returns"
24/12/05 03:00 h.
Rafa Nadal returned yesterday to the tracks and faced Carlos Moyà in the Palacio de los Deportes de Son Moix, in Palma, as part of an exhibition whose proceedings will go to the Foundation Vicente Ferrer and the Project Man. Nadal, who did not play from the 23 of October, when he was injured at the end of the Madrid Masters match against Ljubicic, and Moyá played only a Set before about 3,000 spectators. Moyá won by 9-6 in a best one of nine games match than lasted near one hour. The Majorcans tried to please the fans at the polideportivo, whose central enclosure was prepared with the same surface on which the Madrid Masters is played.

-----

So Rafa is on court again. No news on any withdrawl at Chennai. The Spanish guys are pretty close to the Chennai ATP, due to the tournament director, IMG's Fernando Soler. I don't think Nadal will skip it that easily, unless the injury really needs a week more. We will see.
