Well, officially he has withdrawn. The tournament might have been hoping for that, and he may have thought of doing that - but now he has withdrawn. Jay

Here you have it in words:

Top seed and world number two Rafael Nadal has pulled out of next week's ATP event in Vienna after injuring his knee in practice. There had been media speculation the young Spaniard would not appear but his management confirmed on Friday morning that he would be playing.
They then announced his withdrawal in the afternoon.
"This is the biggest affront in the history of this tournament," said furious tournament director Peter Feigl.
The remaining seeds in the event after Argentine Guillermo Coria also withdrew are David Nalbandian, Gaston Gaudio, Radek Stepanek, Ivan Ljubicic, Tommy Robredo, Fernando Gonzalez and Juan Carlos Ferrero.

I wouldn't be surprised it Olivier Rochus pulled out of Stockholm eventually... he had stomach problems the last 4 nights and bad sleep. he's currently still playing the Mons challenger (SF this afternoon)
